Tours of Historical Interest
Tailor Made to Suit You
East Anglia is renowned for its many beamed and thatched cottages, pretty village greens, ancient inns and castles but it also shares a special relationship with America as many of the original settlers were from this region.
Gosnold, Winthrop, the Shermans, Cornwallis and the captain of the Mayflower (among many others) all have local connections.
The service I am offering is as a personal guide to accompany you on your excursion. I will suggest places of historical importance to visit and offer commentary about those places and their relevance to Anglo American history, and the well known - and much less well known - historical links between our nations. The core tour is a full day and can be customised in any way which suits your interests, such as links which may be personal to you or your home town.
American Heritage Tours is a friendly company which currently provides lectures on Anglo American history to local groups and societies. We are based in East Anglia in the Roman town of Colchester, Essex (only 60 miles from London). The region is the oldest continually populated area of Britain and it is also the driest!
